Volunteer Opportunities
SEPAC is only as effective as our community. To keep that community strong, we need you. SEPAC is your voice, which can be a whisper or blared from the loudspeakers when it comes from an active and vibrant community. To keep that community strong and growing, we all need to pitch in to help where we can.
Some volunteer opportunities -School year 2024/25:
Arrange an event for SEPAC families. Please see our Event and Activities Guide for suggestions. The Board can help a lot, especially with the bigger events, but we can’t sustainably do all of the legwork alone. Last year we had volunteer parents who drove inclusive kickball , summer patio social, and popsicles on the playground for instance.
We need someone who will act as the election coordinator for the Reading SEPAC elections in October.
We are still looking for point people at some schools. Point people help SEPAC by keeping an eye on school newsletters and other communications to ensure that SEPAC communication is reaching parents.
We need School PTO/Parent Liaisons to share SEPAC information with PTOs and PTO information with SEPAC
We need a School Committee Liaison to attend School Committee meetings and report back to SEPAC regarding special education related information and activities
We need someone who can take notes during meetings.
Offer your patio/backyard for a summer social gathering during the school break.
If you have not done so already, please sign up to our members email list as we have volunteer opportunities throughout the year, such as helping us decorate the Christmas tree for REF Festival of Trees, program review consult group, and more.
These are just a few of many suggestions for areas where we need your help. We're always open to new ideas!
For more information on opportunities you can also consult the detailed Events and Activities Planning Guide we created for the 2022-23 school year and is still effective for the 2024-25 school year.
